Showing how the devil (satan/Lucifer/devil/Jezebel ref.Isaiah 14:12 KJV / Revelation 2:20, 2:22) is no longer responsive, but is instead unresponsive and immobilised (e.g. frozen) forevermore – literally destroyed.
All his angels were removed from the underworld and thisbearth, and if their judgement called for it; they too were destroyed (any spiritual creature taking refuge in Satan (Babylon the great) ref. Revelation 18:2).
This is because all unclean spirits and spirit gods were judged by G-d at Armageddon (Judgement Day) circa 69CE.
The devil was judged for perpetuating sin, even as far back as at the time of Adam and Eve (Isaiah 14:16, Ezekiel 28:15-19, Romans 5:12, Matthew 25:41 [eternal fire (judgement) is prepared for devil and his angels], 2 Peter 3:7 [‘fire’ representing the spiritual judgement to the sky (spirits) and the earth (mankind) here.]).
Habakkuk chapter 2 is a chapter which amongst other things addresses the judgement of the devil (satan).
Habukkak 2:3 states his judgement would happen near the ‘end’ of the world (which was a spiritual judgement).
The devil was once referred to as a ‘greedy’ and an ‘arrogant man’ (Habukkak 2:5 ESV).
This chapter then closes in the sense that ‘judgement has been completed on the earth’;
Habukkak 2:20 states that the earth should be ‘quiet’ in the presence of the LORD, as he is not a created spirit god (e.g. unlike the devil) who was just referred and compared to a ‘mute’ / ‘lifeless stone’ (Habukkak 2:19 NASB2000/ESV) that is unresponsive (frozen) and thus cannot ‘teach’ (e.g. cannot function, has no authority) (ref. Habakkuk 2:19 ESV).
It states that the people of the earth labor (in a sinful way) for wrathful judgements, and it is all for nothing;
Behold, is it not from the LORD of hosts that peoples labor merely for fire, and nations weary themselves for nothing?
Habakkuk 2:13 ESV
– it is for nothing as;
• this old earth is known as the second death (the lake of fire) (ref. Revelation 20:14), the last place for those who have died in the new earth above before they are judged and ideally go back up for existence – so there is no longer an underworld.
• the worship of the devil is of no gain here, as he has been judged and literally destroyed (ref Ezekiel 28:18-19).
The torment that he undergoes day after day in the lake of fire is that of being literally destroyed and thus spiritually mute, immobilised on a ‘sickbed’ (Revelation 2:22), as a silent stone that cannot teach (ref. Habakkuk 2:19) forevermore (ref. Revelation 20:10). He and his spirits are spirit and the fire is a judgement which mutes and destroys spiritually.
The torment that mankind experience in the lake of fire is sin, and a spiritual muting;
there are no longer mediums or necromancers who can talk to the actual dead (1 Samuel 28:8-15) or divining spirits/demons (Acts 19:15, Acts 16:16).
These Scripturally prohibbited deeds were actual professions, and are listed as things G-d detests (ref. Deuteronomy 18:10-12).
Holy Scripture then goes on to share with us how the devil has since been emptied out of the underworld which is referred to as his ‘tomb’ (Isaiah 14:19 ESV), and that he is now no longer mobile but still (destroyed) on a ‘sickbed’ (ref. Revelation 2:20) in the [spiritual component] of the lake that burns with fire – due to him being judged. It is in this state that he is tormented this way forever more (Revelation 20:10).
Revelation 12:12 tells us that the devil knew that he would be judged, and this is why he activley ruled and encouraged mankind into sinning extensively in a ruthless manner;
‘…But woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in great wrath, because he knows that his time is short!”’
(Revelation 12:12 ESV)
He helped mankind with high positions of authority, he left forbidden fruit, then he was judged and thrown in to the lake that burns with fire and sulphur (ref. Luke 4:5-8, Ephesians 6:12, Daniel 3:3-7, Matthew 12:24, Exodus 12:12, Revelation 20:10).
Being thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur simply means to be judged as very wicked – in the devils case – it meant to be judged and literally destroyed.
It was here that he was then described as a silent stone that cannot teach, who is immobilized on a sickbed (ref. Habakkuk 2:19, Revelation 1:20 ESV).
No More Underworld
Further, since the great judgement (Revelation 20:11-15) there is no longer an ‘underworld’ after death.
This is confirmed in Revelation 20:15;
Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.
Revelation 20:14 ESV
This means that no one can speak to the dead anymore by way of mediums etc. – a biblically prohibited deed (ref. Leviticus 19:31), as we see in 1 Samuel 28:8-9, 28:11-16.
This is said as death and Hades (the underworld) were emptied (Revelation 20:14), all of the dead were subsequently judged (Revelation 20:13) – along with the devil and his angels being judged also, them being rendered unresponsive and/or frozen (Habukkak 2:19, Revelation 1:18, Matthew 25:41).
‘…This is the second death…’ (ref. Revelation 20:14 ESV) – means that this old earth is referred to as the lake of fire, the place where mankind go after they perish (die) above in the new earth.
We Only Go Up
Nowdays, when people die here on this earth, instead of going ‘downstairs’ – they go upwards to the new heaven and new earth (Isaiah 65:17, 66:22, Revelation 21:1, 20:12, 20:15).
‘…This is the second death…’ (ref. Revelation 20:14 ESV) – means that this old earth is referred to as the lake of fire, the place where mankind go after they perish (die) above in the new earth (Revelation 21:8).
People here are judged after they die as per Revelation 20:12, 20:15, as this is the judgement for the dead. On this earth we have atleast one Scriptural reference which states unbelieving people are described as the ‘dead’ (Luke 9:60) and are thus subject to the judgement which means mortality; long life above or another life here. Believer’s are graced with everlasting life and thus suffer no condemnation (Romans 8:1) – meaning grace results in immortality, and with this, their good deeds follow them (Revelation 14:13).
Descriptives for this lake of fire are found in Isaiah 9:18-19, 66:24, Revelation 14:28. These feature similar elements in them (e.g. smoke, fire, wickedness, rebellious etc.) and confirm the link with Revelation 20:14 and 21:8 as being this earth which is the place people go after they die above.
Some whom are above are able to go out and look down from above upon mankind here in this earth who are typically described as wicked (Isaiah 66:24, Matthew 24:12).
Everlasting Life And ‘Reincarnation’
Believers in G-d and in Messiah (Christ) live forever without end above (Isaiah 28:16, Ephesians 2:20, John 3:14-16, Isaiah 50:10, John 14:1).
Those who do not believe in Christ might live a potential long life on the new earth above – depending on their judgement.
Lifespan is said to be up to as much as almost 1,000 years in the new earth above, by way of Holy Scripture and commentary (ref. Isaiah 65:20, IBN Ezra on Isaiah 65:20).
For those who do not believe, after they eventually die above, they are sent and born back here (John 9:2, 1:21, Revelation 21:8).
This [old] earth is known as the ‘Lake that burns with fire’ (Revelation 20:14) – which is a figurative stagnant lake that represents this earth where people have been judged and sin a lot;
For wickedness burns like a fire…
the wrath of the LORD…
the people are like fuel for the fire…
(Isaiah 9:18-19 ESV)
No More Outward Miracles, No More Unclean Spirits
Since the great judgement (Revelation 20:11-15), the Holy Scriptures state that there are no longer any legal miracles that can be preformed – it says;
‘…the sun be darkened [the context of the gospel and what Christ instructed will be hard to hear in correct balance], and the moon shall not give her light [G-d will not give His Holy Spirit for outward miracles]…’
(Matthew 24:29 KJV, with explanation in [brackets])
What is interesting here, is that in this physical realm, there are no more miracles allowed by the power of G-d on one hand;
Whilst on the other hand, in the spiritual realm here, there is also a spiritual muting, where the unclean spirits have been rendered unresponsive/frozen/not active, the devil is included with these (ref. Habakkuk 2:19, Isaiah 14:20, Revelation 2:20, Ezekiel 28:16, Revelation 18:2).
Despite these facts, the gospel is still honored forever;
(Revelation 14:6 KJV)
The Overwhelming Scourge
There is a spiritual-type of phenomenon known as the ‘…overwhelming scourge…’ (Isaiah 28:18-19 ESV).
It is this spiritual type of phenomenon that the apostle Paul writes about in Romans 7:18-24;
For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?
(Romans 7:19-20, 7:24 ESV)
What this means is that this overwhelming scourge can make a believer do something they do not want/intend to do (e.g. an apparent sinful deed) – however if this is the case, it is not the believer’s fault for the sinful deed itself, as Isaiah confirms this phenomenon will ‘beat down’ a believer (i.e. make them stumble if/whenever it passes through);
‘…when the overwhelming scourge passes through, you will be beaten down by it. As often as it passes through it will take you…it will be sheer terror to understand the message.’
(Isaiah 28:18-19 ESV)
Really hoping all good things go well with you, and that it is fruitful.
May the Holy G-d bless you beyond maximum, believing in His risen, created Son the Lord Jesus Christ (Adonai Yehoshua HaMoshiach). Amen.
