Introduction, Hebrews, Psalms, And The Word (wisdom) In Proverbs 8, John 1:
Hebrews 1:5-13 is a passage commonly misunderstood by many and used as a proof text for the incorrect man-made doctrine known as the trinity.
Many state that Hebrews 1:5-13 is stating that it is speaking of Christ (Messiah), and this includes verses 10-12 that reference Psalm 102:25-27, a Psalm that is speaking of the Lord GOD (the Father).
These people thus use this Hebrews passage as a support for the incorrect doctrine known as the trinity.
What we find though with the fuller scope of Holy Scripture is, that whilst G-d is uncreated and is the Sovereign Creator – He did infact create a god known as the ‘Word’, whom is also poetically referred to as ‘wisdom’, before the heaven and earth was even made;
“The LORD created me at the beginning of His way, Before His works of old.
(Proverbs 8:12, 8:22 NASB2020)
Ages ago I was set up, at the first, before the beginning of the earth.
Proverbs 8:23 ESV
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god.
The same was in the beginning with God.
All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
John 1:1-3 KJV (amended)
It is this created god the Word (wisdom) that was involved in the making of the heaven and earth – as G-d employed him as a ‘master workman’ of sorts by way of His Holy Spirit (Ruach HaKodesh);
then I was beside him, like a master workman, and I was daily his delight, rejoicing before him always,
Proverbs 8:30 ESV
This is why in verses 10-12 of Hebrews 1:5-13, it references Psalm 102:25-27, as the Psalm can thus be legally used in this light;
‘G-d made all things through His created ‘agent’ the Word (wisdom)’ – all without blasphemy or speaking of the incorrect man-made trinity doctrine.
The Word (wisdom) Confirmed As The Created god That Became Christ (Messiah):
Both Matthew 11:19 and Luke 7:35 confirm for us that the Messiah (Christ) is indeed poetically referred to as ‘wisdom’ by way of allusion – when it says;
‘The Son of Man… wisdom is justified by her deeds.”’
(Matthew 11:19 ESV)
‘The Son of Man… wisdom is justified by all her children.”’
(Luke 7:34-35 ESV).
[The above is an extract, and is a bit of a riddle. When it says ‘her’, it really means ‘him’, and we now see the riddle answered with it’s connection to Proverbs 8:12, 8:22-23].
This confirmation also confirms for us the allusion of ‘wisdom’ the ‘workman’ (ref. Proverbs 8:30 ESV) – that the created god known as the ‘Word’, is sometimes referred to as ‘wisdom’ by way of allusion, and that this god became flesh, as per John 1:1-3.
The Created god The Word (wisdom) Had To Gain The Status Of A ‘Man’ To Become Our High Priest In The Order Of Melchizedek:
Note: The Word (wisdom) (ref. Proverbs 8:12, 22-23 NASB, John 1:1-3) had to be sent from above and become flesh on this earth, to gain the title and status of a ‘man’;
but made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: and being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Philippians 2:7-8 KJV
(Acts 17:31 ESV)
It is this title and status that is forever attributed to this being.
It is also the name by which mankind on this earth conclude their prayers with, by the mentioning of the name he was given whilst walking the earth as a man.
As per Holy Scripture, the name of Christ (Messiah) the man is thus access to G-d;
for through Him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father.
Ephesians 2:18 NASB2020
The Lord Jesus Christ (Adonai Yehoshua/Yeshua HaMoshiach) has been declared high priest in the order of Melchizedek as per the Psalm, since his resurrection (because he hated wickedness);
Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: Therefore god, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
Psalm 45:7 KJV (amended)
The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek.
Psalm 110:4 KJV
Further, the attribute of being a ‘man’ that the risen King Messiah (Christ) has gained is perhaps also comforting to a person – from the standpoint of avoiding the breaking the first commandment of the famous Ten Commandments;
Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
Exodus 20:3 KJV
and also the commandment to not invoke the name of any other gods;
“Pay attention to all that I have said to you, and make no mention of the names of other gods, nor let it be heard on your lips.
Exodus 23:13 ESV
This being said a person cannot worship Christ (Messiah), anyone or anything beside the Holy G-d (Revelation 22:8-9), or obtain spiritual gifts from invoking any created being’s name (ref. Exodus 23:13).
Holy Scripture does however state that one can honour Christ as he is the King whom G-d has appointed over all creation;
For the Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son, that all may honor the Son, just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him.
John 5:22-23 ESV
[Explanation: The verse is showing a person that Christ (Messiah) is high above all (except for G-d Himself), as he is the King that G-d has appointed. He is to be revered/honored thus. This is similar to how Scripture promotes the authority of Moses in Exodus 4:16.]
For he “has put everything under his feet.” Now when it says that “everything” has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put everything under Christ.
1 Corinthians 15:27 NIV
Hebrews 1:5-13 Can Be Read Here;
Psalm 102:25-27 Can Be Read Here;
In the beginning you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment. Like clothing you will change them and they will be discarded. But you remain the same, and your years will never end.
Psalms 102:25-27 NIV
Hoping it is fruitful.
May the holy G-d bless you beyond maximum believing in His risen Son the Lord Jesus Christ (Adonai Yehoshua HaMoshiach). Amen.
