Brief Summary
This explanation of Holy Scripture further demonstrates the connection between Christ in the Psalm where it says he ‘…you love righteousness and hate wickedness…’, and how he was then ‘annointed’ as high ‘…priest forever in the order of Melchizadek…’ – after being raised from the dead (ref. Psalm 45:7, 110:4, Hebrews 5:10).
Begin
Therefore he had to be made like his brothers in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.
Hebrews 2:17 ESV
To this, some may say something along the lines as ‘but doesn’t it say since Christ was created, he has always been the same – and thus he has always been high priest?’;
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
Hebrews 13:8 ESV
Peaceably, the answer to such a question without breaking Scripture, is no.
The above verse (Hebrews 13:8) is with regard to his character.
This is said as Hebrews 2:17 states that Christ had to be born like his brothers as a man, instead of his original angelic-god type spiritual form (ref. John 1:1 NWT). Such thus means he would not be the same, once born in a body if flesh.
Further, if one is declared a priest in the order of Melchizadek – they were likley not one prior to such a decree;
Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore god, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
Psalms 45:7 KJV (amended)
The LORD has sworn and will not change his mind: “You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.”
Psalms 110:4 NIV
‘…he…makes intercession for the transgressors.’
(Isaiah 53:12 ESV)
‘…he always lives to make intercession for them.’
(Hebrews 7:25 ESV)
May the Holy G-d bless you beyond maximum, believing in His risen Son Adonai Yehoshua HaMoshiach (the Lord Jesus Christ). Amen.
